Identity

Our unity in Christ can only be realized by those Christians whose primary identity is found in Him. As long as our ethnicity, nationality, or politics is our primary way of seeing ourselves or the world, Jesus is our Savior not our Lord. And there will be continual fussing and fracturing in the Body of Christ. All other identities must be laid at the foot of the Cross—at the foot of the One Who died to offer salvation to all people. Once we find true unity in what ultimately matters, we can be free to celebrate the variety of our secondary characteristics. The differences are no threat to us then.
